El discurso de Obama

Leo diferentes crónicas del discurso de Obama en Cairo y no sé muy bien qué dijo, así que me decido a leerlo entero a ver si me quedo con algo. El discurso dice muchas de las cosas que decía Bush, pero con ese tono iluso y mentiroso que tanto gusta a los progres. Preocupante, si nos prepara a los occidentales para comprender más al Islam, porque entonces nos dejará desarmados.

Dice literalmente: "One understanding based on the truth that America and Islam are not exclusive and neet not be in competition. Instead they overlap and share common principles of justice and progress, tolerance and the dignity of all human beings." Se me había escapado que los principios liberales de la Constitución Americana están basados en la herencia que los musulmanes dejaron en los emigrantes del Mayflower.

So let there be no doubt: Islam is a part of America. And I believe that America holds within her the truth that regardless of race, religion, or station in life, all of us share common aspirations - to live in peace and security; to get an education and to work with dignity; to love our families, our communities, and our God. These things we share. This is the hope of all humanity.

Que se lo diga a los cristianos que viven en el mundo musulmán. En particular a los de Arabia. Curiosamente, el National Geographic de este mes trae un reportaje sobre el éxodo de los cristianos de Tierra Santa por la presión de judíos y palestinos.

In Ankara, I made clear that America is not - and never will be - at war with Islam. We will, however, relentlessly confront violent extremists who pose a grave threat to our security. Because we reject the same thing that people of all faiths reject: the killing of innocent men, women, and children. And it is my first duty as President to protect the American people.

¿Es necesario recordar esto? Quizás sería bueno que hubiera recordar que fueron los radicales islámicos que quieren imponer su religión al resto del mundo o matarlos los que empezaron a atacar a Occidente, mucho antes que Bush y el 11S. Es más, esto suena a que pide perdón por las guerras de USA en la anterior presidencia.

Although I believe that the Iraqi people are ultimately better off without the tyranny of Saddam Hussein, I also believe that events in Iraq have reminded America of the need to use diplomacy and build international consensus to resolve our problems whenever possible. Indeed, we can recall the words of Thomas Jefferson, who said: "I hope that our wisdom will grow with our power, and teach us that the less we use our power the greater it will be."

¡Cielos! Los iraquíes están mejor sin Saddam. Menudo descubrimiento. Dice que Irak fue una guerra elegida. Igual lo fue la de Afganistán, pero por diferentes motivos, aunque Bush dijera que era la misma guerra contra el terrorismo.

En la cuestión palestina, Obama obvió la cuestión de que Palestina no existe no porque los israelíes no quisieran originalmente, sino porque el resto de países de la zona, Jordania, Siria y Egipto, lanzaron una guerra contra Israel que impidió la creación del Estado Palestino. Ahora, Hamas al sur y Hizbulá al norte, ambos movimientos radicales islámicos, financiados por Irán, amenazan la seguridad de los israelíes. ¿Aceptaría Obama un estado de Al Qaeda entre Mexico y USA? Lo dudo bastante.

Islam has a proud tradition of tolerance. We see it in the history of Andalusia and Cordoba during the Inquisition. I saw it firsthand as a child in Indonesia, where devout Christians worshiped freely in an overwhelmingly Muslim country. That is the spirit we need today. People in every country should be free to choose and live their faith based upon the persuasion of the mind, heart, and soul. This tolerance is essential for religion to thrive, but it is being challenged in many different ways.

Este hombre se ha vuelto loco. Y todo lo que pudiera haber dicho antes pierde sentido en esta frase sobre la tradición de tolerancia del Islam. Recuerda a otro dirigente de la alianza planetaria que confunde sus deseos con la realidad. Aparte del anacronismo de confundir la Inquisición con el Califato de Córdoba, bajo éste no hubo tolerancia alguna de otras religiones. Es falso. La tradición del Islam excluye el respeto al resto de religiones.
